BBC GEL
Description
The BBC has extensive digital portfolio ranging from News, Sport, Radio and Television networks. To create a consistent visual language BBC UX&D lead by Bronwyn van der Merwe and Ben Gammon invited Fitzroy & Finn to develop the work carried out by the graphic design legend Neville Brody's Research Studios. You can read about the process here in Bronwyn's post.
Fitzroy and Finn designed a comprehensive GEL (Global Experience Language) Style Guide that defines the underlying conventions for the website; the grid structures, typographic hierarchies, icons, images, navigational tiers, etc. We designed a series of posters that were distributed to agencies and in-house teams to communicate the new GEL principles. The comprehensive GEL style guide and poster can be downloaded here.
